In a way, the Vaulters are more Mezari than the United Empire, as the Vaulters are still pretty much the same as they used to be, where as the Mezari and Empire went through a lot of changes. They eventually found a way off the planet and were left drifting in space waiting for the Mezari to come pick them up - which they never did. It's also the reason why Vaulters are science based: They're Mezari who got stranded on Auriga a LONG time ago and help never came. Imperials maintain industrial nature, Mezari shift it to science and Sheredyn shift it to military.
